| Abstract: The polyesters I [R1 = alkyl, arylalkoxy, (alkylaryl)thio (with unbranched C2-10 alkyl chain); R2 = H or forms a ring with R1; R3 = halogen, C1-4 alkyl, or like R1; n = 5-2000) have good miscibility and compatibility with other polymers at -30_ to +250_. Stirring 2.5201 g 2,2'-dimethyl-4,4'-biphenyldicarbonyl chloride and 1.3636 g tert-butylhydroquinone at 100_ for 1-2 h and heating the solid at 100_ for 10 h, 260_ for 3 h, and 260_/5 Pa for 3 h gave 86% polyester with inherent viscosity 1.38 dL/g. |
