Abstract:

Long, bamboo-like undulated cylinders with distinct branch points and end groups were obtained by stacking of block terpolymer micelles with a fluorinated polybutadiene core and a compartmentalized corona of poly(4-tert-butoxystyrene) (PtBS) and poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) (PtBMA). Stacking of the polymer micelles occurred when the solvent was changed from dioxane (a good solvent for both corona blocks) to ethanol, a selective solvent for PtBMA. The stacking process is reversible.
