Subproject z2:

Characterisation of Mesophases: Electron Microscopy and Scanning Force Microscopy (Central Facility)

Prof. Alexander Böker (Physical Chemistry II)
Prof. Axel H. E. Müller (Macromolecular Chemistry II)
Prof. Hans-Werner Schmidt (Macromolecular Chemistry I)

The project Z2 is concenred with the provision of techniques in the field of Electron Microscopy and Scanning Force Microscopy. In numerous projects of the SFB, materials with charcteristic structures in the nanometer to micrometer range are synthesized and need to be characterized. Key imaging techniques for this size range are transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and scanning force microscopy (SFM). Thus these techniques are highly suited for numerous sytems investigated in the framework of the SFB. Therefore, the Central Facility for Electron Microscopy and Scanning Force Microscopy will continue to be a Core Project open for all projects of the SFB.
