Abstract:
LC complexes of nonmesomorphic poly[4-(3-methacryloylpropyl)pyridine] with partially fluorinated derivatives of benzoic acid have been prepared via intermolecular hydrogen bonding between complex components. The induction of mesomorphic state has been observed for both mesomorphic and nonmesomorphic acids. It has been shown that the type of a mesophase manifested by the complexes varies from layered to columnar and cubic depending on the number of substituents in a low-molecular-mass component.
